We had a relaxing time at Yell Dell. We spent about two hours enjoying wandering the grounds looking at the beautiful plants and unique trees. There was an adorable fairy trail to walk through and a castle with a wedding just finishing up. They do have a nice cafe and seating that is covered overlooking open space. Clean restrooms and signs everywhere naming the plants and trees. If you can walk without difficulty there is a path around two ponds on their property adjacent to the castle. You have to take the stairs down to a grassy path. Head to the concert that has a gate. It almost looks like you are entering a restricted area but it is still the property of Yell. They have cute Gnome’s sporadically placed along the hiking paths. I loved that and they have names. We purchased a couple of pots for my plants in their nice gift shop.
Absolutely beautiful place! The flowers and plants are gorgeous. The buildings are well taken care of and the layout is an easy stroll. Attending a Bourbon and Concert series tonight with a Celtic vibe. Wonderful sounds under a pavilion type are surrounded by nature. Good food and drinks available for purchase. Garden store was open for items to purchase. Beautiful evening with others listening to good music.
20230910 This garden is dogfriendly on Sundays except for special event days!! It cos6s $9 per adult, and free for puppies. The ladies working here are so friendly and welcoming. This garden is smaller than I expected, but adding the woodland and Arboretum, the garden is a lot bigger. The highlight of the garden is the castle. I didn't look further inside the castle beyond looking inside from the front door. The castle is smaller but the exterior is very cute. Perfect for photo ops. Next to the food and restrooms, there are Graves for the kitties that passed on. Tha6s very sweet. We ran into a very sweet and passive kitty. It was sleeping behind the flower pot, and I was able to pet him. I have cats at home, and one if my pups doesn't know how to play with cats. She barks at them, and this kitty just let her without running away.
We recently paid our first visit to Yew Del Botanical Gardens. It was Father's day and my did some research to find on outdoor place not far from home and ended up here. I had no idea it existed, but I don't get out this way very often.
The entry way is through the Tobacco barn, and it's a nifty way to enter such a unique place. The admission price is very reasonable ($9 for adults, and veterans (like myself) are free).
Walk through the Tobacco Barn / Gift Shop and there you are, surrounded by all kinds of colourful, natural beauty. We meandered through a large part of the Botanical Gardens in roughly and hour-and-a-half at a very relaxed pace.
I particularly liked the Castle Terrace, looking very medieval and stately shortly after you enter the Gardens. The Fairy Forest is a quaint little area with miniature fairy houses and a well-shaded area and plenty of places to sit.
The Pollinator Meadow has a nice, very visible, flat walking path that's a nice stroll on a Sunday afternoon.
Yew Dell is a nicely sized Botanical Garden. It's not so large that you feel like you're missing something, but comfortable enough to feel like you got to see it in all its natural splendor.
If you haven't been, I recommend it. It's a very pleasant visit to a quiet, relaxing outdoor experience...and who couldn't use more of that?
Perfect day to check out another nature spot. We were greeted by a really nice staff member. There is an entry fee list, but thanks to my Veteran husband🇺🇸 we got in for FREE. We left a donation. The flowers were blooming and different paths to choose from. The Fairy Forest area is cute. There is a cafe’, but it’s only open on the weekends. It’s an easy walk with many places to sit and enjoy the view. The staff said you can bring food in and have your own picnic. That’s a plus for us. Highly recommend going. We will be back. Enjoy the pictures and videos.
We go every Boo Dell and I really want to start making it a point to come more often. The gardens were bursting with color today!
As a wedding photographer in Louisville, we absolutely love getting the chance to capture a day at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. Whether in high season and bloom or not, this venue is absolutely stunning. With a castle-esque building to get ready, water features, unforgettable florals, and a beautiful outdoor reception site and tent options, this is the perfect place for your day to enjoy any of the Louisville seasons. Don’t pass over this place without making a trip out and walking the beautiful trails and grounds, because once you do you’ll start to see what our photographer eye sees - beauty all around you on your big day just waiting to be your backdrop!
Wow! I had such a lovely time walking around. This was my first time visiting and the person at the gate was so nice and helpful. Most of the garden has a paved path, but there are a few trails you can take if you chose. I recommend wearing shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty if you take the trail.
I was interested to see what plants they chose that we're already in bloom for Spring to get inspiration for my own garden. I found myself stopping multiple times because I was surprised by how pretty or whimsical it was. If you have a few hours to spare, I highly recommend taking your time to walk around.
The photo I've attached is on the way back from the walking trail. It shows the castle and a small corner of the overlook area.
